12th Grade

Even though the final year in high school was certainly challenging, it was also an opportunity to cherish the memories and moments that I will last share with fellow classmates. Overall, the course I took this year were less stressful than the previous year, but with the added pressure to apply to colleges and scholarships, the workload was similar.

AP English Literature and Composition
(Full Year Course)

At the start, my impression of the class was that it was going to be more laid back. However, as the year progressed, I realized that the amount of literature that we have read certainly is not little. From the Song of Soloman to the Canterbury Tales, I learned much about the cultural and historical context in which these stories are written. We also had many days spent discussing Disney which was always fun as the teacher had many tips and tricks for the Senior Disney Trip.

AP Chemistry
(Full Year Course)

This is certainly one of my favorite classes this year! I love chemistry, and I had so much fun learning about concepts such as thermodynamics or kinetics! Of course, I probably asked too many questions, but it's certainly my method to understanding these concepts. Not only did I learn so much, but I also made new friends in this class this year which was so fun!

AP 2D Design
(Full Year Course)

This class is basically a repeat of last year's class, but I struggled throughout the year to choose a cohesive theme. I started with corruptive and rotting organs, switched to anime style for a brief second, and landed on drawing my pet cat. Evidently, I was on a struggle bus throughout the year, but I learned to use gouache and handled using different colors. It was certainly a nice switch up from acrylic and graphite that I used last year, but looking back I wish I stuck with a single theme to the very end.

AP Statistics
(Full Year Course)

This class for me at least was probably the easiest AP, I have ever taken. I barely studied, and all of the concepts were very logical and easy to understand. I also liked how the class was very structured, although it became boring and montonous at times. Similar to AP Calculus BC, there was ample time to study for the exam.

AP Biology
(Full Year Course)

I really enjoyed this class as it was one of the classes that I laughed so much in! Of course, we had the opportunity to learn all sorts of biological concepts, and participated in lab. One of my favorite labs has to be the transformation of E coli. allowing it to glow under UV light. That was amazing because we had the opportunity to apply the knowledge learned in class to create something so magical. The portrait on the right is of the teacher's kids when they were younger.

AP Computer Science A
(Full Year Course)

This class was certainly interesting as I was able to learn Java. Interspersed throughout the year were quizes on major ideas and concepts within the coding language. The class was also self-paced in a way because we had time to complete projects and also lessons every so often. Because I self-studied HTML and CSS, I had some knowledge of coding, but Java is so much more complicated than those languages. One of my favorite concepts has to be recursion because it is so quirky that the function can reference itself.
